What is the difference between DPI and PPI?

DPI (Dots Per Inch) refers to print resolution - how many ink dots a printer places per inch. PPI (Pixels Per Inch) refers to screen resolution. In digital photography, these terms are used interchangeably because the JFIF header stores a single 'density' value that both printers and portal validators read as DPI. When a portal says '200 DPI', they mean the JFIF density header must be set to 200.

Will converting to 200 DPI make my photo smaller or larger?

Neither. This tool changes only the metadata header - not the actual pixel data. A 1000x1000 pixel photo will still be 1000x1000 pixels after conversion. The only difference is that the file header now says '200 DPI' instead of '72 DPI', which tells the portal (or printer) how physically large to display/print the image.

Why do portals require exactly 200 DPI?

If the header shows 72 DPI (phone default), the system assumes the scan quality is too low - even though modern phone cameras capture far more detail than a 200 DPI scanner.

Can I convert PNG or HEIC files to 200 DPI?
