Why does my UK visa photo fail the upload check?
Common technical causes include a non-JPG/JPEG file, dimensions below 600 × 750 pixels, landscape orientation, or a file outside 50 KB–6 MB. A passing file check does not assess facial framing, image quality, or whether the original photo meets all UKVI rules.
Can I resize or compress a UK visa photo to fix an upload error?

Is 35 × 45 mm or 420 × 540 pixels the UK visa upload rule?

Common UK visa photo upload problems
If an upload reports that the photo is too small, too large, the wrong format, or outside the file-size range, check the original file against the requirements above. The checker identifies those file-property mismatches but deliberately does not modify the photo.
Do not confuse printed and digital photo sizes
A 35 × 45 mm print measurement is not a universal UKVI digital-upload specification. Use the current UKVI guidance and the requirements presented in the applicant's specific route. Do not treat a resized image as compliant when the rules require an unaltered original.
